Our first ever workshop, Wafer Paper Flower Making Class, was held with MUTSA (Melbourne University Taiwanese Students' Association)!
There are so many ways to decorate your cakes. Apart from buttercream (our specialty) and fondant, wafer paper is also one way to decorate your cakes! Making wafer paper flowers is not difficult and definitely suits all beginners. This class taught students how to make Garden Roses designed by me after a lot planning and practice - they were lucky because they got the template straight from us that day!
It was a slow start initially but we managed to finish in 2 hours... We did not expect it to be that long but I was really impressed with the students' patience and effort in participating in the class (it does require a lot of focus and attention to detail)!
Students wondered where I got the materials from. I think it would be a good idea if I listed a few places where I often shopped:
- Bake Boss
- Cakes Around Town
Shops listed above are a good start for decorating wafer paper flowers :)
We have to thank MUTSA for giving us this opportunity to collaborate in this fun activity with their members during the semester. They provided assistance in organising and setting up the venue as well as extra help throughout the workshop! Also a special thank to Crystal Chow for taking the pictures for us that day!
Thank you for reading! Hopefully there will be more workshops to come!
